Re: Monitoring Infinera

right, the challenge, with nodes like the cisco ONS devices is that the MIB indexes for MIB variables on the optical path do not have equivalents in the ifMIB.

this makes it a challenge to tie optical power readings and optical signal presence to a monitored interface. With the cisco ONS MIB it would have been so much easier if they had created ifMIB entries for each optical interface, and then used those to index into the optical patch information (e.g. the wavelength of light, received power, transmitted power, etc). but they didn't and so monitoring them is a right pain (UnDP don't really help here)

Back to Infinera: if I had SNMP access to an actual infinera then I could look at the MIB data and assess the competency of their MIB designer. (if anyone can provide me with a SNMPwalk that would be awesome).
