If you add the resource Last XX Syslog Messages to your home page, you could add in a Filter that would just show up the syslogs you are interested in. Then change the title from Last XX Syslog Messages to something more appropriate.
But the Syslog Viewer emails should be instantly provided the SMTP server and email recipient are both internal. To set up a syslog email rule do this:
Log onto your Solarwinds server and open Syslog Viewer. Click on the View tab and select Alers/Filter Rules. In there click on Add New Rule and fill out the details. I use this to alert me on BGP syslogs because it's instantaneous.
